Hi all,

Finally after 7 Years, rsnapshot 1.4.0 is near to get released. I've
created a release-candidate:

https://github.com/rsnapshot/rsnapshot/releases/tag/1.4.0rc1

Could you please test it, report bugs and share your thoughts?

Sincerely,
Benedikt

On OpenSUSE 13.1 amd64, configure fails with

config.status: executing libtool commands
/usr/bin/rm: cannot remove 'libtoolT': No such file or directory

Thanks for the feedback. I haven't seen this yet. On debian and Arch this
does not fail (-f option passed by configure to rm).

I've scheduled another release candidate:
https://github.com/rsnapshot/rsnapshot/releases/tag/1.4.0rc2

Mit freundlichen Grüßen,

Hurrah, and thankyou!

Amusingly I got the notification of this from Github (iOctocat for iOS
irocks) while I was at a seminar about backups, talking to a vendor
about expensive enterprise-ware.

Perhaps you could summarize the major changes here.

Just wanted to say a huge heartfelt thank you to everyone involved in both developing and supporting rsnapshot.

It's a great utility and has saved the bacon for heaven knows how many sysadmins and users over the years.

Well done and thank you all!

Hi,

Sry for the late reply. I had been busy with Uni-Stuff this week.

I hope the changelog is complete. I had been working on rsnapshot only for
the last half year.

Most changes are completed under the hood and the buildsystem of
rsnapshot. The source got tidied, many bugs got fixed.

The "major" changes are:
- The default intervals/retains are instead of hourly/daily/weekly now
alpha/beta/gamma
- stop if cmd_preexec or cmd_postexec fails
- capture the output from rsync with log-level over 4.

The other changes. Uhhh. TBH, the changelog will tell you more.
