[rsnapshot-discuss] starting from my last weekly.0

Because of connection issues, it seems like my last valid repository is
the weekly.0
all the daily.0-6 are incomplete.
I would like to start the sequence back from this weekly.0 directory to
avoid the huge rsync that would go about. So I want to remove all the
daily.0-6 and make my weekly.0 the new starting point.

What is your recommendation? thanks

The simplest would be to disable rsnapshot for a while, then

rm -rf daily.*
mv weekly.0 daily.0

Otherwise, you have to disable rsnapshot for a while, delete the
current daily.* and use something like "cp -al" to copy weekly.0 to
daily.0.

Please note: this is one of the reasons I dislike the "rely on
timestamps of the top level directory, and numbering", rather than
putting the datestamp in the name of the backup. Users will have to
doublecheck datestamps of the directory to understand that the dailies
got screwed for a while, and that you weeklies won't happen next week
due to an unpopulated queue of daily backups.
